Early Career
Captain Chris Hirsch embarked on his distinguished police career in 2012 when he joined the ranks of the Summerville Police Department. With dedication and unwavering commitment, he has served the community in various crucial assignments and roles, including Patrol Commander, Narcotics Commander, and Investigations Commander. Captain Hirsch became the first officer from the Summerville Police Department to join the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office as a tactical flight observer, further exemplifying his dedication to public safety. Captain Hirsch also served on our department's Civil Disturbance Unit, gaining advanced training in Field Force Operations. His commitment to transparency and effective communication has led him to serve as the Public Information Officer for the department.

Captain Hirsch's exceptional dedication to the law enforcement profession has been recognized with numerous awards. In 2014, he was honored with the prestigious title of Police Officer of the Year, a testament to his outstanding service and leadership. The following year, in 2015, he was awarded the Rotary Club Officer of the Year, further highlighting his exemplary contributions to the community and the department.
Personal Life
Beyond his career, Captain Hirsch has a passion for America's pastime, baseball. As an avid fan, his heart belongs to the St. Louis Cardinals.
