Early Career

Harold Robinson began his law enforcement career in 1996 as a Reserve Police Officer of the Summerville Police Department. During his time as a reserve officer, Harold Robinson was one of the founding members of the Emergency Service Unit. In August 1997, Harold Robinson was hired as a full-time police officer of the Summerville Police Department and attended the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. After several years of patrol duties, Harold Robinson accepted a detective position with the Summerville / Dorchester Metro Narcotics Unit. He served for 9 years as a detective before receiving an active duty assignment with the US Coast Guard Investigative Service. After completing two- and one-half years of active duty, Harold Robinson again began patrol duties with the Summerville Police Department. Harold Robinson moved through the ranks, eventually being assigned as Sergeant of the Traffic Unit. In 2015, Harold Robinson was assigned as the crime analyst working closely with patrol units and detectives.

Harold Robinson retired from the US Coast Guard Reserve in January 2017 after 26 years of service. In June 2017, he attended polygraph school at the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center in Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. After 10 weeks of training, he began his internship with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, receiving his South Carolina Polygraph License in September 2018. In January 2020, the Summerville Police Department created a dedicated Office of Professional Standards Unit, which Harold Robinson was promoted to Chief Inspector. In September 2023, he was promoted to Captain.

Awards

Harold Robinson received Officer of the Year from the Summerville Elks Lodge in 1998.

Memberships

Harold Robinson is a member of the American Polygraph Association and the American Association of Police Polygraphists.

Personal Life

Harold Robinson was born and raised in South Carolina and the father of two adult sons.
