As a member of the Main Street program (a 501 (c)(3) organization), the mission is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Summerville by enhancing the aesthetic, cultural, social and economic aspects of the downtown area, while preserving its historic identity. The DREAM Building Improvement Grant program (B.I.G. IDEA) will provide financial assistance on a cost reimbursement basis to commercial property owners and business owners in the Historic Downtown District that qualify for façade improvements. The purpose of the program is to support the revitalization of the downtown area by stimulating private investment in high-quality improvements that enhance the appearance of buildings and properties and eliminate blight and non-conforming design standards.
- Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments Revolving Loan Fund
Specializes in gap capital financing, or resolving cash shortages, that would prevent a successful closing for businesses whose projects will improve the economy for the Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester tri-county area.
- Charleston Local Development Corporation
Provides loans and extensive and specialized technical assistance to new or existing businesses in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester Counties.
- South Carolina Community Loan Fund
Provides non-traditional loans and financing technical assistance for production of affordable housing, healthy food retail, community facilities, and community businesses that meet capital needs of underserved neighborhoods.
- SCRA Technology Ventures/South Carolina Launch
Provides funding, counseling, access to resource partners and other capital sources for knowledge economy-based businesses in South Carolina - primarily in the industries of:
- Advanced materials
- Chemical and engineering process
- Information technology
- Life sciences
- US Small Business Administration
Provides information, resources, counseling and financial assistance for small businesses.
