Highway Safety Grant
Since October of 2011the Summerville Police Department was awarded a
Highway Safety Grant.
Since that time PFC A. Gantt and PFC R. Blajszczak have been
assigned as the two grant officers.
The main focus of the grant is to enforce the usage of safety
belts, child restraint devices and other traffic related violations.
The grant also helps to educate the general public as to the
impact of impaired and drugged driving as well as aggressively
enforcing the States DUI law.
PFC A. Gantt and R. Blajszczak have participated in many
presentations in the community of Summerville and its schools.

Pfc. Antonio Gantt
PFC A. Gantt has
been employed with the Summerville Police Department since
February of 2008.
In his time with the
Summerville Police Department PFC A. Gantt worked in the
Patrol Division for three years.
PFC A. Gantt was transferred to
the Summerville Police Department Traffic Division in April
PFC A. Gantt was chosen for the
Highway Safety Grant in October of 2011.
PFC A. Gantt’s time with the Summerville Police Department
Traffic Division, he has attended numerous schools and has
been awarded numerous certifications through the South
Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Some of the certifications
include Speed Measuring Device Operator, DMT Operator, Field
Training Officer, Standardized Field Sobriety Test
Practitioner, Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor,
Traffic Collision Investigation Phase I-III, he is a Traffic
Safety Officer for the State of South Carolina, and he is a
Drug Recognition expert for the State of South Carolina.
Pfc. Robert Blajszczak
First Class R. Blajszczak has been with the Summerville
Police Department since December 2007 and is currently
assigned to the Traffic Division.
He started his law enforcement career in 1995 with
the Georgia Department of Corrections, as a Correctional
Officer, and shortly obtained the rank of Correctional
Officer 1st Class.
In 1997 he took a position with the Berkeley County
Sheriff’s Office, as a Detention Officer.
PFC Blajszczak later left the Corrections in 1998
when he started with the Moncks Corner Police Department
assigned as to patrol. He
quickly advanced to the rank of Corporal and became a Patrol
While with the Moncks Corner Police Department he was
awarded the Berkeley County Police Officer of the Year.
In 2005 he went to work for the Edisto Beach Police
Department where he obtained the rank of Sergeant.
Blajszczak has attended the Georgia Department of Public
Safety Corrections Academy, the South Carolina Criminal
Justice Academy Basic Jail and Basic Law courses,
A.C.E School, Basic Detective,
School, and Field Training Officer
He holds certifications in Collision Reconstruction,
Speed Measurement Device Operation, Standardized Field
Sobriety Testing, and Advance Roadside Impairment Driving
Enforcement, Datamaster Operation, and is a Certified
Traffic Safety Officer.
